So today I have been working hard with Ali from Wooden Wedge Upholstery on our new stall at Decoporium - a brand new antiques and vintage emporium based at Thorp Arch Business Park near Wetherby. Full of around 40 traders all providing an absolutely fabulous range of vintage and retro items from sideboards to tea cups, '50s kitchen cabinets to cushions. lampshades to glassware, and everything in between.
After our recent visit we were deciding how best to decorate and "individualise" The Vintage Wren's and Wooden Wedge Upholstery's space to make it somewhere people would want to come and look at further after walking past numerous other beautiful stalls.
We wanted to split our space into "vintage" and "retro" sections to reflect our passion for both these trends. Eventually after looking at various options we decided to use decoupage based on my back catalogue of Homes & Antiques magazines! We've put up two blocks of amazing images based on those themes with painted sections in between.
Furniture and Accessories have also been split into these two areas. A G Plan E Gomme coffee table with '70s writing desk, typewriter, Hornsea storage jars, Cherry B and Babycham glasses slot beautifully into the Retro side. In the Vintage area we have a gorgeous newly upholstered Parker Knoll armchair with a stunning footstool decorated in a unique rations coupon fabric, a 1930s/40s display cabinet filled with vintage coloured glassware, sundae glasses and various ceramics and a range of vintage maps. And in between we have an amazing retro tea trolley accompanied by various vintage teacup trios and two beautiful upholstered dining chairs.
Having had a beautiful but exhausting day I really hope our hard work is reflected in the result. I am delighted to be working with Ali and the wonderful upholstered furniture she produces, in the great setting of Decoporium, I look forward to seeing you at The Vintage Wren there in the near future. Warmest regards Lucy x
